Dry Camping in the Cabela’s Parking Lot

This event happened a little earlier this year, but I can’t remember the date or location, so I thought it would be a great story to close out 2012. Already, we’ve had so many adventures, and we are only a few months into our travels. I can’t wait to see what else is to come in the coming years.

Honestly, we will never forget these wonderful adventures. This image is of the boys laying out all their toys on their play-mat in a Cabela’s parking lot on the East Coast somewhere between Ohio and Georgia.

See the generation running in the background? That was a lifesaver today. We had a bit of a mishap of some food and cleaning supplies falling on the bed while we were traveling, and we had to pull over and use our washer and dryer. We literally parked as close to a road drain as possible and bucketed dirty laundry water to dump it. The kids thought it was a grand adventure.

I’ll be a little honest, doing laundry in a Cabela’s parking lot mortified me, but I guess it means I’m a true redneck. And a couple of people came to inspect our ‘setup’ and sought to equip their cargo trailer similarly.
