The sign at Eagle Harbor Book Company in Eagle Harbor, Washington.

Emmaline Hoffmeister book signing at Eagle Harbor Book Company in Eagle Harbor, Washington on July 17, 2010.

I had the incredible opportunity to host a book signing at the charming Eagle Harbor Book Company in Eagle Harbor, Washington. The event was a celebration of my passion for storytelling and a wonderful chance to connect with readers in such a picturesque setting. This was the a book signing for my debut novel Longbourn’s Unexpected Matchmaker.

This book signing was especially exciting because Rhett and the kids came with me to the island and it was the first time the boys had ridden on a Ferry. The ferry’s name was WENATCHEE which was fun because we lived in Wenatchee, Washington at the time of this book signing.

Our family made the day an adventure by riding the ferry out to Bainbridge Island. There’s something magical about a ferry ride—the gentle rhythm of the water, the cool sea breeze, and the sense of leaving the rush of the mainland behind. For my husband Rhett, our two boys (then just 3 and 5 years old), and me, it felt like a mini vacation in itself. The boys loved standing at the rail, watching the seagulls dance in the air and the occasional sailboat gliding by. It was super windy, but we had so much fun that we didn’t go inside to avoid the wind.

When we arrived, it was fun to see my book in the window of the bookstore and the announcement announcing the author event tonight at 7:30 pm.

Eagle Harbor itself is the perfect backdrop for a book event. Nestled in the heart of the island, the bookstore exudes charm and warmth. Its beautiful wooden floors and shelves brimming with literary treasures created the ideal space to share my stories and meet my readers. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and they made sure every detail was perfect.

The event itself was a whirlwind of excitement beginning with the reading. One particularly sweet moment was when a mother purchased a book for her daughter, saying, “I think she’ll love this.” It’s moments like these that remind me why I write—to inspire, connect, and share.

The book signing wasn’t just about promoting my book—it was about celebrating the journey of storytelling and cherishing the moments that make it all worthwhile. I’m grateful for everyone who joined me at Eagle Harbor Book Company and for the family adventure that made the day unforgettable.

Thank you to those who came to support me. Your love for my stories has been a blessing to my journey as an author. If you’ve visited Eagle Harbor or experienced the joy of a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, I’d love to hear your stories in the comments below! Let’s share the magic of this special place together.

Here’s to more adventures, more stories, and the connections we make along the way.
