Lagoon 450

We are considering either traveling the United States in a RV, or travelling the world in a sailboat for a few years. An RV would be more economical financially, but we adore sailing and exploring the world would be a dream come true.

But, with that said, we will likely RV because I am a little hesitant to sail with the boys being as young and small as they are. I know others sail worldwide with kids, but they are braver than me. However, if we were to sail the world on a sailboat, we will need an awesome sailboat and the Lagoon 450 is the top of my list.

We’ve been online stalking the boat for a while now. We’ve gotten quotes and been discussing the possibility of ordering a boat from a Yacht Broker. The guy we’ve been talking to is accepting a brand new Lagoon 450 in Oakland, California and invited up to come see and walk on the boat before the new owners take delivery.

We jumped at the chance and instead of just touring the boat, we took the whole day and helped the broker set up the boat after delivery. It comes with everything wrapped and packed and so we prepped the boat for the new owner. It was exciting because we got to see every nook and cranny of the boat.

I determined I adore this boat and if we do in fact travel the world, this is the boat we will buy. We have two years to decide what our travel mode will be.

Before the boat broker arrived, we were walking around, allowing the boys to play a little. We saw the boat down in the water and took this picture of Rhett and the boys.

Potential Drug Deal and Seedy Motel

So, do you see the greyish blue hotel/motel in the background of the images above? It was a scary, seedy hotel/motel that we should not have stayed at, but we did and luckily survived to tell the tale.

Last night, outside our hotel room, we witnessed what we suspect was a drug deal. The occupants exchanged a brief conversation before a small package was handed over in exchange of cash. The scene sent a shiver down my spine, leaving me uneasy in an already questionable hotel. I swear, Rhett didn’t sleep a single wink last night.

The dingy room didn’t help matters. We opted to spread our sleeping bags over the beds, hesitant to trust the dubious cleanliness of the threadbare linens. Needless to say, sleep didn’t come easy that night.
